Great news – we made an impact! 

We are thrilled to announce that the performers of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics received the biggest number of votes in 2021 HWU Music Cottage 200. Sheng Solo, Number 3, has been particularly favourited for the ‘incredible energy and sound’. 

Steve King D.Litt, the Director of Music at Heriot-Watt, was left impressed by the performances: 

“A few years ago, music students and their music director from Tianjin University came annually to HWU to give concerts and experience Edinburgh. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend quite a bit of time with them and enjoyed the experience very much.  

The player, the instrument and the piece all work together beautifully ‘as one’. I find it quite mesmerising and full of colour, musicianship and skill”.   

Next step would be the meeting of the two universities’ musicians in person. We hope this will bring a new fruitful partnership into the world of music.
