Chinese Calligraphy 1

Course Description

This course will start with a brief introduction to the history and classification of Chinese Calligraphy. The course will then move to Standard Script (楷书 kǎi shū), which is the most practical script used in Chinese Calligraphy. During the course you will learn the basic strokes, the rules for stroke order for writing common words, and the common techniques that are related to Chinese brushes and ink control.

This five week course will be held on Thursday mornings from 11am to 12noon, the course will run from 27th May to 24th June.

Fee: £15 for 5 sessions

We hope through our course you will discover the joy of practicing the ancient arts of calligraphy using the Chinese brush. Due to Covid restrictions, students are required to purchase their own art materials, the approximate cost is £33 and includes Calligraphy specific items – Brush, ink, paper and mat.
